ART DECO CURVES
A refined intervention within an Art Deco jewel.
In a quiet neighbourhood near Antwerp, this 1936 residence embodies Belgian Art Deco at its most refined, where geometric balance meets exceptional craftsmanship. CUBEX approached the project with a clear intention: to honour the home’s original spirit without turning it into a period reconstruction. A historically faithful C30 kitchen unfolds in continuous curves, a fluid gesture that resonates with the existing architecture while maintaining a discreet, self-assured identity. Topped in glazed lava stone, the work surface adds a layer of distinction, recalling the elegance of 1930s interiors without ever slipping into pastiche. Materiality completes the composition: glossy white surfaces meet soft yellow wall tiles and a red terracotta floor, creating a nuanced palette where past and present respond to one another. Not a re-creation, but a resonance, letting architecture guide the gesture from within.
