MODERN ICON
Reinventing a modernist kitchen, as an obvious fit.
Nestled in the timeless charm of Villa Westhinder in Knokke, this intervention reflects an approach that is both respectful and ambitious. Designed in 1931 by architect Henry van de Velde, the house remains a landmark of Modernism, demanding a response worthy of its formal clarity. Supported by CUBEX and guided by interior architect Aurélie Penneman, the owners envisioned a kitchen at the crossroads of Villa Cavrois and the historic CUBEX model. We created it entirely from scratch, conceived for contemporary living without compromising the spirit of the place. Proportions, layout and detailing were calibrated to achieve the right balance between form and function. More than a transformation, the project demonstrates the strength of a dialogue between heritage and contemporary craftsmanship, breathing new life into the villa—and into the way it is lived.
