Product description

I had the chance to study traditional bamboo basketry techniques for nearly two months in Beppu (Japan) with the basket maker artist Takayuki Shimizu and his master Jin Morigami (headlining the exhibition “Fendre l'Air” at the Quai Branly Museum in Paris in 2018-2019)... And I have (finally!) put my finger on what made me vibrate in the basketry. Beyond a technique, it is braiding the voids that fascinate me: bringing light into the material, so that the days are balanced with the full. This woven bamboo "Teppachi” basket reflects this praise for harmony.
