Product description
cacao pottery かかおポタリー — Arita, Japan
Trained at the Izumi ceramics school in Yokohama, where she began working in 2014. In 2017 an Arita kiln invited her to develop a tableware range; in 2018 she moved to Arita for good — drawn to the town, and determined to make Arita ware unlike anything made there before.
The frame around a good meal
Her stated aim is to be "the frame around someone's delicious" — pieces that make an ordinary day a little brighter. The studio name comes from chocolate: something everyone loves, that takes the edge off a tiring day.
She was awarded second prize in the industrial category at the Arita International Ceramics Exhibition in 2022 for sizqu, and a jury prize in 2024 for the Sora marble plate. Solo shows every year at Hankyu Umeda and Takashimaya Yokohama, and an exhibition in Pune, India, in 2024.
