Babel is a sculptural table lamp that interprets the tower as organic architecture rising into the light. Inspired by the myth of Babel, it evokes the diversity of cultures, languages and people, symbolically united by the same meeting point: light. Her body is sculpted and sanded by hand from a walnut trunk. A succession of irregular volumes compose a totemic silhouette, like the floors of an ancient building that would have grown naturally. The oiled finish reveals the veins of the wood and highlights the depth of its reliefs. The double shade combines painted embossed iron with polished and varnished brass. The brass reflects the light downwards and illuminates the sculpted body, while a piece of blown borosilicate glass supports the whole and lets the light shine through. An integrated rotary switch allows you to adjust the intensity. Created in 2019, Babel is a unique piece where matter, architecture and light meet.
