Mazandaran meets ladders baneh kelims

Our Mazandaran kelims designed by Soheila Shayegan Studio Cyprus are superior quality flatweaves inspired by old and antique kelims discovered in the province of Mazandaran bordering the Caspian Sea. The aspiration here is simplicity and the result a homage to the art of northern Iranian kelims woven in strips that are then sewn together. The ‘comb’ or ‘intersecting lattice’ design is seen across diverse cultures. What is unusual about this creation is the use of contrasting colours to achieve the ikat-like effect – a floorcovering ideal for the designer market.
