Located in a residential tower in Amsterdam-Noord, an area known for its lively culture, Public Space offers its customers a unique all-day experience. Guests can enjoy anything from gourmet coffee and snacks to breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks in a relaxed environment. Public Space provides its guests with a variety of places to enjoy a bite, with casual and cushy seating, tables for intimate gatherings and traditional dining tables for larger groups or communal dining. Gillies chose Ethnicraft favourites including the Bok dining table and chairs, Osso stools, Torsion dining tables, and comfortable lounge seating, including the Barrow chairs and Ellipse sofa, which contribute to creating a harmonious atmosphere with areas for both diners and loungers. “We love the design of Ethnicraft,” Gillies says. “We’re so happy that we can experience the quality of Ethnicraft furniture in our space and to offer it to all of our guests.” Gillies notes the wear and tear that furniture endures in the hospitality industry. The furniture he selected needed to be of high quality and sturdy enough to withstand a high volume of customers while still adding to the bold aesthetic of the restaurant. “I think we’re living in a world right now where we’re starting to think about our consumption and trying to find more sustainable ways forward. And that durability was something that really appealed to us.” Gillies said.
