Product description

Handmade Arita porcelain bowl, part of the Residues of Fire collection. Each bowl is individually saggar-fired — enclosed with rice straw, gosu (traditional Japanese cobalt pigment), copper wire, and metal wire, allowing smoke, carbon, and mineral vapours to act directly on the raw porcelain surface. The exterior carries the unpredictable marks of fire: soft drifts of indigo and slate, warm amber traces, carbon shadows. The interior is finished in a transparent satin glaze.Thrown in Arita porcelain during a residency at Kouraku Kiln, Arita, Japan. No two bowls are alike — each surface is shaped by the unique chemistry of its firing. A collector’s piece and a functional vessel at once.Food-safe interior. Dishwasher safe, though gentle hand washing is strongly recommended. Fragile — handle with care.
