AZMAS RUGS

Parquet Deformation

To weave a flatweave rug based on a parquet deformation pattern designed in the fall of 1989 by Mr. Jorge E. Calle when an architectural student in a course taught by Professor William S. Huff. We contacted Mr. Calle who is now a practicing architect and obtained his permission to weave this unique pattern. He has given specific instructions on the colors and the arrangement of the pattern. A parquet deformation is a pattern of tiles that transforms as you go from left to right whilst maintaining the regularity of the tiling. Parquet deformations were taught by Professor Huff as an shape shifting exercise for his students to improve their understanding of space.
