Black Out is created through successive hand-applied layers of oil paint, built gradually to form a richly textured monochromatic surface. The additive painting process allows the material to develop naturally, creating subtle relief that catches and reflects light differently from every angle. Every brushstroke remains visible, preserving the unmistakable presence of the artist’s hand.Restrained in colour yet rich in texture, the work explores how depth can emerge through material rather than ornament. Its quiet surface reveals increasing complexity over time, rewarding prolonged observation and changing continuously with shifting light. The board is paired with NADALI’s signature hand-painted Equilibrium figures, mounted on solid wood bases and finished with oxidized silver details.
