Drift is created through successive applications of oil paint, mineral pastes, and hand-worked textures layered over fragments of sailors’ correspondence written more than three centuries ago. Historic cartographic elements remain partially concealed beneath the painted surface, allowing traces of past voyages to emerge gradually throughout the composition.Inspired by the uncertainty of life at sea, the work reflects the courage required to venture beyond the familiar, where shifting tides and distant horizons become symbols of exploration and discovery. Every painted surface develops differently through the artist’s hand, ensuring each board remains a singular expression of craftsmanship and artistic interpretation.The work is paired with NADALI’s signature hand-painted Equilibrium figures, mounted on solid wood bases and finished with brass details.
